ARUGAM BAY & WELIGAMA BAY | SRI LANKA SURF INSTRUCTOR COURSE

Our Surf Camp Sri Lanka is situated on the south coast in the lush green area of Cape Weligama, Weligama Bay, close to the ocean.

Weligama is a vibrant fishing village and the cultural hub of the south, where you can explore street food, fish markets, new bars, and beach clubs along the large bay.

Centrally positioned among the south coast surfing hotspots, you can easily access all the waves in the area and nearby cafés, bars, and restaurants. Whether you want to surf in Madiha or Ahangama, visit the famous Doctor’s House in Polhena, or stay around Weligama, our central location means everything is close by.

Most importantly, we are near some of the area’s most beautiful surfing beaches, Jungle Beach and Turtle Beach, where you can enjoy magical sunsets.

We are confident that this will be your new home away from home in Sri Lanka—a secure, comfy, luxurious haven.

This 12-week program is also suitable for surfers seeking a true surf adventure and wanting to improve their skills. It can be booked without the ISA and LS exams for a 250 Euro discount.

The program is best suited for Beginners through to Advanced surfers. Day-to-day surf spot selection is based on individual needs and the groups are split accordingly.

I AM A BEGINNER – IS THIS SUITABLE FOR ME?

While some surfing experience is recommended, it’s not always necessary to participate in the Surf Instructor course. We’ve had successful students who completed the Zero to Hero experience, proving that anyone with a passion for surfing and a willingness to learn can enrole.

To qualify for the Surf Instructor certification, candidates must demonstrate essential surf skills and fitness levels. A crucial component of the course is the timed 200m run-swim-run, which must be completed in under 5 minutes to ensure participants have the physical stamina needed for challenging conditions in the water.

In addition to fitness, aspiring surf instructors must show proficiency in surfing. Required skills include paddling out to the back of the waves, executing duck dives, consistently performing pop-ups on green waves, and making basic maneuvers while turning both left and right.

The Surf Instructor course is designed to help students develop and improve their surfing skills and fitness. Through a mix of instruction, practice, and feedback, participants will work on enhancing their abilities. The course includes training drills, group sessions, and individual instruction to equip aspiring surf instructors with the skills needed to pass the certification and succeed in their career.
