This retreat is ideal for intermediate to high intermediate surfers. Below we have outlined the recommended minimum and maximum level to get the most out of this retreat.
Minimum level: L3 Intermediate – You are can pass through broken waves, catch waves and navigate the lineup independently but may still need help with positioning at new or more challenging spots. You can generate your own speed and do basic turns but still have a lot to work on in these areas.
Maximum level: L4 High intermediate – You are progressing with more advanced maneuvers such as roundhouse cutbacks, vertical turns or maybe even seeking your first barrel.
Throughout the week, you’ll work closely with Christian to pinpoint the habits or techniques limiting your performance and refine them to help you break plateaus in your surfing.
With Damara Surf’s unique surf progression program, our personalised and professional approach promises to unlock years of potential and take your skills to the next level.

Watch perfect right-hand peelers wrapping down the reef, as you enjoy your morning coffee (see photo!) The Point is a dream wave for intermediate surfers, offering super consistent, long, perfectly shaped walls right out front. Expect 3–4 turns per wave, easy takeoffs, and endless chances for repetition to refine your technique. Often uncrowded or empty – it’s the ultimate training ground…
Just a 5 minute stroll up the beach, HT’s — or Lance’s Right — stands as one of the most perfect right-hand barrels on Earth. This world-famous wave is pure magic: a crystal-clear reef, turquoise water, and mechanical tubes reeling down the line with precision. Find your early chip-in and pull into a wide-open, stand-up barrel that feels almost too good to be real. A true bucket-list wave and one of surfing’s most iconic reefs.
The Katiet area hides a collection of fun, uncrowded beach breaks that light up in different conditions. When the swell’s big, we chase a long, running left into a deep channel — pure fun and plenty of space. On medium swells, a 20-minute drive opens up miles of beach with multiple shifting sandbanks where you can surf completely alone. Even on small swells, we find a nearby beach offering a friendly soft right hander sitting across the channel from a ‘wave-pool’ like left-hander breaking over reef, often empty!
When the wind swings, Lance’s Left turns offshore offering up opportunities to surf no matter the conditions. On bigger swells it becomes a serious performance wave — fast, powerful, and perfectly shaped, with long, mechanical walls and clean barrel sections for those ready to push their surfing. On medium and smaller days it transforms into a long, fun, and flowing left that’s ideal for linking turns and refining your style. With multiple take-off zones and consistent sets, there’s plenty of waves to go round.
